Tack>>Head: In The Area

The battle plan was clear. Just as the Rolling Stones chose to start a tour at a very small venue, like Toads in New Haven, CT in order to get that close intimate audience feeling, Tack>>Head dug into the trenches at Sully’s Pub, Hartford, CT for 2 hours of, in you face, musical maneuvers.

When you’re standing in a pub and the next message you hear coming from the sound system sounds like a link from Face the Nation, Tack>>Head is in the area. When the master drummer, Keith LeBlanc, is just as at home running programs and beats from a laptop as he is with his technical drumming skills, Tack>>Head is in the area. When the bass player, Doug Wimbish, stomps on an effects pedal and produces some of the most unique sounds ever reproduced on recordings or live by a bass player, Tack>>Head is in the area. When the lead singer, Benard Fowler, can step off the stage from one of the biggest Rolling Stones tours, 40 Licks, where he sings backing vocals, and lead the charge with a few favorites from the CD “Friendly As A Hand Grenade”  Tack>>Head is in the area. When the guitar player is the same player you heard on the loop you thought he played when you  were looking at his every move, but missed it; when the only thing your’re sure of is that they are strange things and strange noises coming from his corner of the stage, and  then he blurts out the words to the song, “ Stealing” (In The Name Of The Lord), Tack>>Head is in the area.

These four veterans, collectively, gave the audience Tack>>Head; the exceptional musicianship, the loops, the sound on sound, the social statements and the “yeah, we once use to back up the Sugar Hill gang” tackfully funky music.

Tack>>Head collectively is older now. It’s musicians have aged somewhat, but with age comes wisdom. One would hope that a group that was able to raise the social conscience bar in the eighties, could bring a familiar voice to these times when freedom of speech seems to be quickly becoming a thing of the past.

This small reunion tour will take the group to New York, Canada and Europe.
