As you travel the path,
You leave a sign,
A part of you,
Sometimes in sophisticated codes,
Sometimes with simple expressions,
You tell the world how you feel.

You stayed  to yourself
In a room by yourself
You asked yourself the question
Until it echoed from the walls of your mind
Louder and louder, your thoughts made

The Time Keeper

It was quiet
Then, repetition of notes
Then, repetition of beats,
Phrasings within a motif.

The timekeeper played
Softly, but in a deliberate way,
Skillfully, speaking with each beat
Each tone, each inflection
Creating rhythmic direction.
Tones getting louder, stronger,
More defined, rhythmically in time
Like the speech of a great oracle.

The voice of Martin speaks
The words, a well known speech
As Will emphatically plays harmony
In and around, this voice of freedom.

Playing peculiar times,
Short, long times,
Simple, technical times,
Playing beautiful phrasings.
Expressing emotions, feelings.

Bass tones deep
Creating thunder using feet
Lightening hands, blurring fast,
Oracle speaks, wisdom passed
Light from above shines down,
Spirits of ancestors all around.

The drum, evokes all these things
As the Time Keeper, rocks, swings
In-time, out-time, different times
Four-four time, African six time,
Like an oracle, tell us, we need to know,
Pick up the sticks and let it flow.

Culture

Culture - you can't stop it
              they tried to rock it,
              Knock it
pull it up by the roots

Culture - seedy youth
              growing blind within the dark
              attached by the roots
to feed, to grow, to know.

Culture -  a collective consistant way of life
               a shattered myth
               Bliss

Culture - you can't take
              only immitate.

Resignation of A Muse

Thinking was impaired
Emotions carried undertones
I sat alone

Pleading only echoed
from wall and sky
I sat and cried

used to evoke emotions, to cut like a knife,
to heal, educate,
soothe one's soul.
Bring thoughts and ideas across through poems, prose, Lyric and verse. The powerfulness of thoughts expressed
in symbolic gestures.
